There's nothing quite like spending time away from home at one of the Inyo National Forest campgrounds in and around Mammoth Lakes.

With more than 800 campsites available in the Mammoth Lakes area, there are plenty of options for exploring the Eastern Sierra while pitching a tent under the stars. Whether you're an avid camper or new to one of Mammoth Lakes' most-loved summer activities, here's where to find a hot shower between adventures.

Public Showers in Mammoth Lakes

Three facilities in town offer showers for campers, open during the summer season. Prices range from $8 to $10 per person. Make sure to bring your own towel and soap unless noted otherwise.

Camp High Sierra—Summer Only

  • ADDRESS: 869 Lake Mary Rd.
  • PHONE: 760-934-2368
  • HOURS: Open 8 am-7 pm daily
  • COST: $8.00 per person—Pay at the Camp High Sierra Lodge
  • AMENITIES: Towel and soap not included.

Camp High Sierra is located off Majestic Pine Road just north of Kelly Road on Camp High Sierra Road. You can book campsites at Camp High Sierra through Mammoth Mountain's website, but guests who are not camping at the campground are also welcome to use the shower facilities for a fee.

Mammoth Mountain RV Park—Open year-round

  • ADDRESS: 2667 Main St.
  • PHONE: 760-934-3822
  • HOURS: Open 10 am-5 pm daily
  • COST: $10.00 person
  • AMENITIES: Towel and soap not included

The Mammoth Mountain RV Park is located on Hwy. 203 (Main Street) across from the Mammoth Lakes California Welcome Center, with convenient access from the U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in town.

Twin Lakes General Store—Summer Only

  • ADDRESS: 518 Twin Lakes Rd.
  • PHONE: 760-934-7295
  • HOURS: Open 7 am-6 pm daily
  • COST: $8.00 per person
  • AMENITIES: Towel rentals available for $2.00; soap not included

Twin Lakes General Store is located in the Mammoth Lakes Basin by Twin Lakes, with convenient access from the U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in the Mammoth Lakes Basin.

Public Showers Just Outside of Mammoth Lakes

Two more options sit just outside town, convenient for campers staying at Reds Meadow or the Whitmore area.

Reds Meadow Resort—Summer Only

  • ADDRESS: 1 Reds Cir.
  • PHONE: 760-934-2345
  • HOURS: Open 7 am-7 pm daily
  • COST: $5.00 per person
  • AMENITIES: Towel and soap not included

These facilities are located at the Reds Meadow Resort just south of Devils Postpile, with convenient access from the U.S. Forest Service campgrounds in Reds Meadow.

Note: the showers are open 24 hours per day, but require tokens that must be purchased from the resort. Check the official Reds Meadow site for updated hours of operation.

Whitmore Pool—Summer Only

  • ADDRESS: 904 Benton Crossing Rd.
  • PHONE: 760-935-4222 – call before visiting
  • HOURS: Open 12-3:30 pm daily from mid-June through mid-August. Check the Whitmore Pool schedule for current hours.
  • COST: $2.50 per person
  • AMENITIES: Towel rentals available for $1.00; soap dispenser available

The Whitmore Pool is located on Benton Crossing Road off Hwy. 395 at the Whitmore Track and Sports Field.
