Plan Your Trip for Mammoth Mountain Opening Weekend

Oct 27, 2021

Mammoth Mountain opening weekend officially kicks off on October 29 (conditions permitting). Will you be here?

Pack your gear, grab a few friends and head to Mammoth Lakes to start the 2021/22 ski season off right. First chair is only the beginning. The event includes a full weekend of entertainment and activities for families and friends who want to shred the hill or celebrate the season with a bang.

New additions to the line-up of events are being added as the weekend approaches, so check Mammoth Mountain’s website for updated opening weekend information.

Skiing a Mammoth Mountain

Opening Day Festivities at Mammoth Mountain

The mountain is open for skiing at 8:30 am on October 29, but if you want to get first chair you’ll have to line up early. In years past, dedicated skiers and snowboarders have camped overnight in line at Broadway Express, sleeping on the snow to secure a seat on the first chair.

Even if you aren’t as dedicated as the first chair campers, you’ll want to arrive early to Main Lodge to partake in the festivities starting at 7:30 am before everyone hit the slopes. After morning laps, join in the midday festivities at one of the on-mountain venues.

Plus, since it’s Halloween Weekend, costumes are a must! Mammoth Mountain is hosting a weekend-long Halloween costume on the slopes. Wear your costume when you’re skiing this weekend and post a photo to your public Instagram feed and tag #MammothsOpen and @MammothMountain for a chance to win prizes. The winners will be announced on November 1.
