June Lake Loop
Overview
The June Lake Loop's horseshoe shape is a textbook showcase of glacial geology and one of the Eastern Sierra's most scenic drives. This 14-mile paved two-lane road winds past four stunning lakes: June, Gull, Silver, and Grant. Each was carved when the Rush Creek glacier split against the resistant rock of Reversed Peak, an event that forced Reversed Creek to flow westward toward the mountains rather than away from them, hence its name. In fact, it is the only stream along the entire Eastern Sierra to flow this way!
This loop is partially open in winter. Whether you're chasing fall colors, camping at one of the family-friendly campgrounds along the route, or exploring the quaint town of June Lake, the June Lake Loop has something for everyone across every season.
