Mammoth Lakes Insiders Guide to Buying Hiking Boots

From lightweight trail running shoes to mid-cut hiking boots and traditional mountaineering boots there are more options on the market today for hikers. We talked to shop employees at the best outdoor retailers in Mammoth Lakes and asked what they recommend for hiking the trails in our backyard. ALTRA Lone Peak

This lightweight trail running shoe is a favorite hiking shoe among the Pacific Crest Trail thru-hikers this year. NORTH FACE Hedgehog Fastpack GTX

MERRELL Mid Ventilator

It’s the most popular hiking shoe brand for a reason. Merrell is known for it’s ready-to-wear feel and rarely disappoints. The Mid Ventilator is the most popular style and also comes in the Mid Gore-Tex version. The mid-heigh hiking boot give s a little bit more protection around the ankle, but still offers the agility of a lightweight trail shoe. LOWA Renegade GTX Mid

This best-selling hiking boot has waterproof breathable upper and a Vibram Sole. The Lowa Renegade GTX Mid offers great stability and support with a durable construction. SALOMON Quest 4D2GTX
