Where to Pre-Order Thanksgiving Dessert in Mammoth Lakes

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and every year, despite our best intentions, we always seem to leave things to the last minute. Do yourself a favor this year and let someone else take over the time-consuming task of pie-(or your dessert of choice)-making.

This doesn’t mean heading to the grocery store and picking up a mediocre pumpkin pie. Definitely not. Pie is a serious subject for many Thanksgiving feasts, so we want to make sure you get the best of the best. Mammoth Lakes has a handful of bakeries whose homemade pies will not disappoint. They may even be cause to celebrate a new Thanksgiving pie tradition.

Dessert’d

Dessert’d is a sweet little eco-bake shop that originally started out as a cookie boutique. (You may know them by their original name, Mimi’s Cookie Bar.) Since their opening in 2011, they have grown into a full-service bakery that offers all sorts of desserts including delectable pies, cakes and macarons.

Their baked goods are made from organic and natural ingredients, and many of them can be ordered gluten-free, including pie crusts. Dessert’d offers a wide range of pies for your Thanksgiving holiday. Polish off your feast with a decadent Mammoth mud pie or a salted caramel sweet cream pie in a jar or a classic, but no less enticing, apple pie. Pies are available daily at the bakery on a first come first serve basis or you can place an order with a 48-hour notice.

Shea Schat’s Bakery

The inside of Shea Schat’s Bakery is a magical wonderland of baked goods and confections. You can find almost any dessert imaginable from golden pastries to skillfully decorated cakes to yummy holiday pies.

Their rustic pumpkin pie with a flaky butter crust is rich and delicious. Or, if you’re feeling a bit untraditional this year, try one of their beautiful custard-filled fruit tarts. Topped with a bounty of fresh fruit and filled with a creamy custard, it’s bound to be a hit. In-store pies are available daily or you can pre-order your Thanksgiving pie with a 48-hour advance notice.

The Stove Restaurant

The Stove is a historic and humble landmark in Mammoth Lakes. The restaurant has been in business for over 40 years and one of the reasons people keep coming back is for their pie. The lattice-topped treats are a favorite among visitors and returning diners alike. Daily options in their pie case might include apple, peach, boysenberry, or blueberry and holiday favorites like pumpkin can also be found. These aren’t your standard store-bought pies. They’re home-baking at its best.

The Stove takes Thanksgiving pie orders with a 24-hour notice or you can choose from their daily fresh baked options. Note that the Stove is only open for breakfast and lunch, so pies need to be ordered and picked up before 2pm. Better yet, take the family in for a hearty, home-cooked meal and pick up your pie before heading home.

Bleu Handcrafted Foods

Bleu Handcrafted Foods is a one-stop shop for all your handcrafted Thanksgiving essentials, including pie. Their handmade organic pie selection includes apple, pumpkin, mixed berry and pecan. Limited quantities are available due to their small bakery team, so it’s best to place your order as soon as you can.

While you’re at it, pick up some freshly baked bread, cheeses, local meats, and craft beer and wine to compliment your Thanksgiving feast. You can also let Bleu Foods take care of it all from a perfectly roasted free-range turkey to an assortment of delicious sides, artisan cheese and charcuterie platters, and, of course, those pies.
