Located in The Village at Mammoth, Shelter Distilling not only produces its own spirits ranging from single malt whiskey to blue agave tequila (among many other tasty distillations), but the distillery also serves up creative and delicious cocktails. This winter, ask your bartender for their secret from-scratch eggnog and rum cocktail. It’s not on the menu, but it’s the perfect blend of winter holiday cheer.

Mammoth Tavern is a staple among Mammoth Lakes residents and repeat visitors alike thanks to its great food, delicious drinks, and cozy atmosphere. Additionally, Mammoth Tavern’s excellent happy hour, running daily from 4-5:30 pm, makes it a great stop for aprés ski cocktails. Half off well drinks are hard to beat. Try the winter cup cocktail, a tasty blend of Bourbon, honey, and raspberry sage lemon shrub.

While located in an unlikely venue (on the upper floor of the bowling alley, Mammoth Rock N Bowl) Mammoth Rock Brasserie is a great option for upscale dining and, of course, cocktails. In addition to amazing French-inspired food, the bartenders also serve up some fantastic cocktails, including a barrel-aged bourbon maple old fashioned. Head over before sundown to enjoy your drink with good company at a table overlooking the stunning Eastern Sierra mountains just outside the floor-to-ceiling windows.

For a Cozy Atmosphere: Petra’s Bistro & Wine Bar

The cozy Petra’s Bistro & Wine Bar is located inside the chalet-inspired Alpenhof Lodge. Don’t be fooled by ‘wine bar’ in its name—bartenders at Petra’s Bistro and Wine Bar shake up some delicious cocktails as well. A few favorites include the citrusy Peruvian connection and the Tonapah low, a whiskey version of the Moscow mule. Enjoy your aperitif by the fire as you swap stories with friends about your day on the slopes. Happy hour runs from 5-6pm with $3 off signature cocktails.
