The Arc'teryx Backcountry Academy in Mammoth Lakes isn't just about sharpening your skills in the snow. It's a celebration of mountain culture at its best. Held each winter, the three-day event pairs guided backcountry and inbounds clinics with inspiring films, live music, free après at Canyon Lodge and a bustling Vendor Village. The Clinics

Education is the heart of the Academy. Guided backcountry clinics take place within 30 miles of Mammoth Lakes, with world-class mountain guides and athletes teaching touring, ski mountaineering, splitboarding, navigation and avalanche safety. If you're not ready for the backcountry yet, inbounds clinics at Mammoth Mountain help you build skills on the resort.

Most backcountry clinics require Level 1 avalanche training (AIARE 1, AST 1 or equivalent). Participants must be 18 or older for backcountry clinics and 16 or older for inbounds clinics. Clinic registration typically opens in November and sells out quickly, so watch the Arc'teryx Backcountry Academy website for dates.
