John Wentworth, co-founder of the Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access Foundation offers ideas for different recreation activities you can do in the Mammoth Lakes area. For all these activities, always be sure to dress for the occasion and wear the proper clothing.

Snowplay: Playing in the snow, making snow angels, making snowmen, snowball fights, and just having fun in the snow. Visit: www.mammothtrails.org to find all the great places to go.

Cross-country skiing: There's a great free cross-country ski area in the Shady Rest Park area or you can visit the Tamarack Lodge Ski Center and ski the Mammoth Lakes Basin.

Snowshoeing: Some great trails for snowshoeing are the Inyo Craters and starting from Main Lodge to the Minaret Vista. Check-in with local shops in town if you need rental gear.

Snowmobiling: With 100 miles of groomed trails, Mammoth Lakes is a popular area for this sport. Be sure to check in with the visitor center to get the latest on the conditions of the trails before heading out.
