Holiday Gift Guide for Skiers and Snowboarders

Snow—It’s what most skiers and snowboarders want this holiday. You can do a ritualistic dance or try burning a pair of old skis, but fresh powder is ultimately in the hands of Mother Nature. The good news is there are plenty of shops in Mammoth Lakes where you can find great gifts for your favorite powder hounds (even Fido!). From specialty socks to Mammoth Lakes logo wear, here are some fantastic gift options for the skiers and snowboarders in your life.

Where to Buy Gear for Skiers & Snowboarders

After Snow Boots

The only thing better than taking off your ski or snowboard boots after a long day riding the mountain is putting on a brand new pair of classic Ugg-style boots. The cozy shearling liner is soft and warm, which will make your tired feet happy. If you’re looking for something comfortable, but still waterproof try the North Face Snow Boot or Sorel Caribou.
Price Range: $75 to $160
Where to Shop: Kittredge Sports, Footloose Sports

Ski and Snowboard Socks

You really can’t own too many pairs of ski and snowboard socks. Having a fresh pair for every day on the slopes until laundry time will make your loved ones feet happy and cut down on the stink factor. The Burton Phase snowboard sock is a cult classic, as are the Icebreaker merino wool ski socks.
Price Range: $25 to $35
Where to Shop: Wave Rave Snowboard Shop, Mammoth Mountaineering Supply

Base Layers

You’re only as warm as the layers you wear, which is why base layers are one of the most important things when getting dressed for a morning on the slopes. Icebreaker merino wool base layers are consistently top rated for snow sports. Select a pair by weight for different weather conditions.
Price Range: $90 to $110
Where to Shop: Mammoth Mountaineering Supply, Ridge Merino Co.

Where to Buy Souvenirs and Gifts for Skiiers & Snowboarders

Mammoth Lakes Logo Wear and Memorabilia

Skiers and snowboarders love to sport their allegiance to their favorite mountain. Gift an official Mammoth logo hooded sweatshirt, long sleeve shirt or branded trucker hat, which are available in a wide variety of colors. Looking for something smaller? Try a Highway 395 coffee mug, water bottle or shot glass.
Price Range: $7 to $55
Where to Shop: Footloose Sports, Mammoth Fun Shop, Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, McCoy's, Mammoth Sports

Local Interest Books

For longtime Mammoth Mountain skiers and passionate snowboarders, gift a beautiful coffee table book rich with photographs, history and stories of the region. Tracks of Passion by Robin Morning and Mammoth: The Sierra Legend by Martin Forstenzer are the local bestsellers and worth every penny. Or tuck an Eastern Sierra themed novel or biography into your loved one's stocking.
Price Range: $15 to 75
Where to Shop: The Booky Joint, Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center

Warm Snow Vests for Dogs

You won’t want to forget your favorite powder hound in the holiday shopping extravaganza. If the skier or snowboarder in your life has a dog, the pup probably loves to play in the snow as much as they do. Splurge with a Ruff Wear insulated weather resistant jacket. Another budget-friendly idea—anything by Chuckit!, which will up the ante on any game of fetch in the snow.
Price Range: $60 to $189
Where to Shop: Tailwaggers Pet Store & Bakery, Mammoth Pet Shop
