Accessible Activities

Mammoth Lakes has so many accessible recreational activities; there is truly something for everyone. During the summer months Mammoth Lakes offers a variety of activities, including biking, fishing, canoeing and kayaking, horseback riding, sightseeing and more. Check out the following lists for ideas. Calling ahead for specific accessibility information is highly recommended.

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra: 760-934-0791
Offers year round activities and custom programs to people of all ages and disabilities.
Programs include kayaking, rock climbing, camping, hiking, cycling/mountain bike rides, horseback riding and some enjoyable outdoor adventure learning activities.
"Our main purpose is to open the doors and make everything accessible for people with special needs. We want everyone to enjoy the experience of being active" said Kathy Copeland, Executive Director of DSES.
The staff is trained in adaptive techniques for each activity offered, so that assistance will be readily available while still maintaining the ultimate goal of personal independence for all those who participate.
All summer activities are scheduled individually and are specific to personal interests and capabilities.

Fishing:
Fishing licenses required for ages 15 and over. There are many different areas for fishing, the lakes basin, Convict Lake, Mammoth Creek and Crowley Lake. 2012 Fishing season starts 4/28/12 and ends 11/15/12.

Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra is a non-profit organization that offers year round activities and custom programs to people of all ages and disabilities. We have adaptive equipment to fulfill everyone's dream. Skiing and Snowboarding is one-on-one and customized for each student. Full day and half days available. No one should be left behind because of a disability. Reservations required.
