Cross country skiing is both easy and accessible – not complicated, not a lot of gear required – just good, healthy fun! Between the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center and the public Mammoth Lakes Nordic Trail System, there are miles of trails and skating lanes for Nordic skiers. Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center offers lessons and ski and snowshoe rentals. Groomed tracks, ski skating lanes and snowshoe path. Insider's Tip: During winter full moons Tamarack offers Full Moon Tours on skis and snowshoes.
The Inyo National Forest has a wide winter trail system integrated into the surrounding mountains, forests and meadows. Ideal terrain for ski touring and telemark skiing is marked by blue diamonds. Destinations include Inyo Craters, Obsidian Dome and Hot Creek.

NEW for 2010: Sierra Star Cross Country Skiing
Sierra Star Golf Course, in partnership with the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center, is proud to present for a limited time only, Cross Country skiing at Sierra Star Golf Club. This is a trial run with the intent of exploring additional in-town winter outdoor recreation, and further cross-country skiing options.
The approximately 3km long track will be maintained from February 7 through March 7, 2010. Guests are asked to access the track from the Sierra Star Club House Parking Lot, and to please keep dogs on the leash and be responsible for any collateral their pets might leave behind.
