Mammoth Yosemite Airport - MMHThe Mammoth Yosemite Airport (MMH) is located a short 10 minutes or 6 miles (9.7 km) from Mammoth Lakes on US HWY 395. The airport is 7,128 feet or 2,173 meters above sea level, has one runway - 9/27, and is 7,000 ft long and 100 ft wide (2,134 x 30 m). MMH is owned by the Town of Mammoth Lakes. To address long-awaited maintenance needs and in preparation for commercial air service, the Town of Mammoth Lakes initiated a $6 million airport rehabilitation project. The project consisted of reconstructing runway 9-27, including 7,000 feet of 100-foot wide pavement, and the remodeling / conversion of the existing maintenance building to a new commercial passenger terminal. The runway project was almost entirely funded by the Airport Improvement Program of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Mammoth Yosemite Airport Open House & Horizon Aircraft Public Viewing The Town of Mammoth Lakes in partnership with Horizon Air is inviting the community to a public viewing of the Horizon Air Q400 aircraft and an Open House of the new Mammoth Yosemite Airport Terminal on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 between 10:30 a.m. and noon. Town Staff will be on-hand to showcase the new terminal, along with personal from Horizon Air who will be onboard as well as just outside the aircraft to answer any questions. The Bombardier Q400 is a 74 seat high-speed, twin-engine turboprop that is one of the most technologically advanced regional aircraft in the world. The $1.87 million Mammoth Yosemite Airport Terminal project began in May, 2008 and included extensive remodeling of the existing maintenance building into a 70-80 passenger commercial terminal.
