Mammoth Earth Day

In honor of Earth Day on April 22, 2008,  the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, the Mammoth Lakes Chamber of Commerce, Opposing Motion, Sierra Wave, Mammoth Times, and The Village at Mammoth are organizing four days of fun, featuring naturalist tours, organic refreshments and live entertainment throughout town from April 18 –22, 2008 with an Earth Day fair at the Village on Saturday, April 19, 2008.

Participating Businesses & Organizations:

The following Mammoth businesses are participating in Earth Day by hosting on-site activities or special offerings from April 18 – 22 unless otherwise noted, following our environmentally-focused theme, Earth Day 2008: What will you do?

Angel's Restaurant: Providing recycled, biodegradable to-go containers, fresh seasonal specials and restaurant waste minimization. (760) 934-7427

Ben & Jerry's: Offering ice cream made with organic ingredients, recycled paper products and biodegradable supplies. (760) 934-2970 

Best Green Gear: Offering a box for recycling capilene products through Patagonia's recycle threads program, a box for cell phone recycling, and a free raffle for a chance to win eco-friendly Laken Water bottles at the Village on April 19. (760) 924-7801

Daylight's Healing Touch: Donating 10% of April 18 – 22 business proceeds to local environmental nonprofit organizations. (760) 935-4448

Eastside Velo: Promoting cycling as a viable alternative for non-polluting transportation. Special Earth Day ride on April 20th leaves Bishop Park at 9:00 a.m. with 25 or 50 mile options. Food stops provided. $15 registration fee by April 16, 2008.

High Sierra Energy Initiative: Offering complimentary compact fluorescent light bulbs and interactive, educational activities for all ages at the Village on April 19. (760) 934-4650

Kittredge Sports: Offering a 30 percent discount on Patagonia's environmentally-friendly and recycled thread clothing. (760) 934-7566

Mammoth Brewing Company: Offering a 20% discount on full cases of organic beer in aluminum cans. Available at the new store located at 94 Berner Street, across from the Village parking lot. (760) 934-7141

Mammoth Elementary School: Displaying creative Earth Day-themed student artwork at the Village on April 19. (760) 934-0031

Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Access: Providing public education and information at the Village on April 19 detailing Mammoth's planned comprehensive year-round trails and public access system. (760) 934-3154

Mammoth Lakes Fire Department: Offering information about fire prevention, and complimentary tours of a fire engine at the Village on April 19, 2008. (760) 934-2300.

Mammoth Mountain Dry Creek Bar & Mountainside Grill: Offering special menu items, including seasonal, organic appetizers, beverages and happy hour specials. (760) 934-0601

Mammoth Mountain Ski Area: Offering intermediate-level, naturalist-guided snowshoe hikes to Minaret Vista April 18 – 22, departing each day from the Mammoth Mountain Inn at 2pm, weather permitting. Snowshoe rentals are available. (760) 934-2571, ext. 3357
